Welcome to the Department of Tourism and State Development’s website. Our agency works hard to promote all that South Dakota has to offer to businesses, visitors and of course, our residents.
Our office is made up of five divisions – Arts Council, Governor’s Office of Economic Development, State Historical Society, Tourism, and Tribal Government Relations. Each of these divisions plays an integral role in moving our state’s economy forward.
Additionally, the Department of Tourism and State Development has three associated authorities –Ellsworth, Housing, and Science and Technology. The authorities work independently, but collaborate with the Department of Tourism and State Development to improve tourism, business development and quality of life.
As we draw closer to 2010, I invite you to check out our 2010 Initiative website and see the tremendous progress we’ve made in achieving the goals set forth by the people of this state. Launched in 2003 by Governor Mike Rounds and the people of this state, this plan continues to serve as the blueprint for this agency.
As a native South Dakotan, I couldn't be more proud to help promote this great state. I invite you to visit each of our division’s websites and see what makes South Dakota such a great place to live, work, visit and do business. |
